Privacy, without
the fine-print fog.

1. Controller and scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Pekoe Tea Timer mobile application (“Pekoe”), this website, and voluntary support correspondence (together, the “Service”). The data controller for personal data we actually receive is Izuba LLC, the App Store seller of Pekoe (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

2. Data processed in the app

Pekoe lets you create personal teas, brew records, per-tea recipe memories, optional tasting verdicts, tasting notes, ratings, and journal entries. This content is stored on your device to provide the Teas, timer, Next Brew, saved-recipe, and journal functions.

It is not transmitted to a Pekoe server, account system, analytics platform, advertising platform, or Pekoe-operated cloud service. Because we do not receive this content, we cannot access, profile, sell, retain, or restore it for you.

Next Brew is a deterministic on-device rule, not remote artificial intelligence or profiling. It can propose one change after a Too light or Too strong verdict, explains the old and new values, and saves that proposal only when you leave the visible switch on and save the brew.

3. iCloud sync: your private database

If your device is signed into iCloud and iCloud is enabled for Pekoe, your journal entries, personal teas, and saved per-tea recipe settings are stored in the private CloudKit database of your Apple Account and synced to your other devices signed into the same account. The tea catalogue, Atlas, and artwork ship inside the app and are not synced.

This private database belongs to your Apple Account. Izuba has no technical means to read, query, or export its contents. Apple processes this data under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Data in transit and at rest is encrypted by Apple; end-to-end encryption of iCloud data depends on your own Advanced Data Protection setting.

Sync is a convenience, not a requirement. You can turn it off in your device’s iCloud settings; Pekoe keeps working fully and locally. To remove synced data, delete the content in Pekoe and let the deletion sync, or manage Pekoe in your iCloud storage settings.

4. Export, restore, and voluntary sharing

You may ask Pekoe to create a JSON or CSV export. JSON contains the journal, personal teas, and saved per-tea recipe settings in a format Pekoe can restore. CSV is a human-readable journal export; Pekoe does not restore from CSV.

Creating an export opens Apple’s system share interface. You decide whether to save the file, AirDrop it, send it to another app, or cancel. Pekoe does not receive the exported file or learn where you send it. Restore begins only after you select a JSON file and confirm replacement of the data currently stored in Pekoe.

5. Siri, Shortcuts, notifications, and maps

Pekoe offers App Shortcuts for starting a brew, brewing again, advancing a steep, and starting the Just Boiled estimate. Apple may process voice, transcription, shortcut, device, or diagnostic information according to your device settings and Apple’s Privacy Policy.

If you allow notifications, Pekoe uses Apple’s local notification system for timer alerts. Reference maps use Apple MapKit; the app does not request or use your precise location. Pekoe receives no server copy of shortcut requests, notification content, or map requests.

6. Support correspondence

The Support page creates a draft in your mail app; it does not submit fields to a website backend. Nothing is sent until you choose to send that email.

If you email us, we may process your address, support topic, device details, and message only to respond, investigate, and maintain an appropriate support record. We aim to delete or anonymise resolved support correspondence within 24 months unless law or a continuing dispute requires longer retention.

7. Tracking, analytics, and cookies

The Pekoe app has no advertising or analytics SDK and does not use tracking as defined by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. Its App Store privacy label declares Data Not Collected. iCloud sync does not change this declaration: syncing to your private iCloud database is not collection by us because we cannot access it.

This version of the Pekoe website does not set analytics cookies, load an advertising network, or run a visitor analytics service. Ordinary hosting infrastructure may still process limited technical request information, such as an IP address, to deliver and secure the website.

8. Retention, deletion, and your rights

Your Pekoe content remains until you remove it. If iCloud sync is enabled, deleting content in Pekoe also removes it from your private iCloud database once the deletion syncs. Deleting the app alone does not remove previously synced data from iCloud. Exports and copies sent to another service must be removed where you chose to store them.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port personal data we hold, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not receive local tea content, those rights are exercised directly on your device for that content. Contact us for requests concerning support correspondence.

9. Security, children, and changes

Keeping tea content on your devices and in your private iCloud means Pekoe cannot access it, but no storage system is perfectly secure. Protect your Apple Account, devices, exported files, and email account with the controls available to you.

Pekoe has no account, social feature, behavioural advertising, or in-app payment and does not knowingly collect personal data from children through the app. We may update this policy when the Service or legal obligations change; the revised date will appear above.
