Lore

Linden flowers for about two weeks, and the whole valley organises itself around them. Every year, on the first Saturday of June, a meeting sets the day picking may start, village by village according to altitude. Buis-les-Baronnies was the capital of the trade: up to 450 tonnes in a good year, almost the entire French crop. Its linden fair was held 196 years in a row before it stopped in 2004.
